Telugu actress Soundarya was the leading actress telugu and kannada film She made her film debut while in her first year of MBBS, when she was offered a role by a friend of her father's in the Kannada film Gandarava and First Telugu Film 'Manavarali Pelli'.

Soundarya acted a lot of telugu movies  such as 'Pavithrabandham' ,'Pelliichesukundam' with Venkatesh, found to be a popular pair .'Annaya','Chudalani undhi' with Chiranjeevi and others like Nagarjuna,Srikanth , Rajendraprasad,Jagapathibabu ,Krishna etc.She acted in several female oriented roles like Thommidi nelalu,Arundhathi,Maa inti adapaduchu etc. Director's like Ragavendra rao, S.V.Krishna Reddy, Kodi Ramakrishna, Kranthi Kumar gave her Lead roles in their films . Soundarya also acted in one hindi movie Soorya Vamsham.  She also acted in  Tamil films, such as Arunachalam and Padayappa alongside Rajinikanth, Kaadhala Kaadhala alongside Kamal Haasan and others.

Soundarya produced and acted in the Kannada film DweepaAptamithra, with Vishnuvardhan.actress Soundarya also acted in malayalam movies opposite Jayaram,Mohanlal. The film 'Dweepa' won the Golden Lotus, which is given for best film of the year. It also won the Karnataka state awards for Best Actress, Best Film and Best Cinematography, and was featured in five international film festivals. soundarya bagged 7 filmfare awards and 3 nandhi awards from Govt of Andhra Pradesh.

Actress Soundarya died in a plane crash near banglore on 17 April, 2004. The plane plunged down as soon as it took off and burned down.
