Mavilamthode is located 4 kilometer away from Pulapally in the forest area. This place has a historical important. Mavialamthode known as the death place of Veera Kerala Verma Pazhassi Raja.
After Pazhassi Raja declared war againt british east india company,Raja moved in to wayanadan jungles. Pazhssi Raja had big support from Edachena Kunkan Nair and Kurichiya leader Thalakkal Chandu.
Thalakkal chandu and edachena kunkan directed the operation and distroyed the british fort at Panamaram,killing many british soldiers and seized lot of wepons and cash.Thalakkal Chandu killed by the british at Panamaram under a koly tree. The Tree is still we can see behind panamaram goverment school. The school now located where the british had the fort at Panamaram.
The assistant collector Thomas Baber and his military force moved to the jungle after getting the information that Pazhassi Raja and his team were hiding near mavilamthodu.As british army move towards in the deep jungle,they heard some sound from the other side river. There were gun shots few of them fallen down including Pazhassi Raja. 
Thomas Baber respected Pazhassi Raja so his body taknen to Mananthavadi and invited all the nayar's and brahmins to witness the creamation of Pazhassi Raja. Thomas Baber told: 'Even if he was our enemy,was a greate warrior' and salute.
Today also Mavilamthode is scary jungle. We can see the momorial built at Mavilamthode jungle. The place sarrounded with thick trees and grass showing why Pazhassi Raja choose the place to fight against the british. When i stand at the death sopt at Mavilamthode imagining the last fight of pazhassi Raja. The Place Mavialamthode ofcource need more attention from the government by making a proper pathway and clean up the area. History board of Pazhassi Raja to be fixed there.
